Ok, so I downloaded the windows 7 home premium that was offered at a discount price for students. Thus, whenever you install software that’s built for x64 systems, it goes to the Program Files folder. 32-bit software goes into Program Files (x86) instead. My goal was to get a decent, everyday system for web surfing, e-mail, and light gaming (occasional Lord of the Rings Online), for $400 total, with Windows 7. I bet the forum members could suggest a better/cheaper build. This should allow you to move your accounts, documents, settings and a whole lot more to a temporary location whilst you can do a full install of the new Windows, then If you know someone with a retail 64bit Visa disc have them burn you a copy from the disc image.
