thanks for saving my life, my usb drive packed with 3 months of college work on it & i've rescued it & now learnt to copy it & back it up. Well, the new Windows 7 uses Euros, but will still accept pounds. I still can see the hard drive in Disk Management but not in explorer. I think it's because of old firmware in the drive. In Disk Management it shows up a drive with Simple Layout, Basic Type, Status is Healthy (Primary Partition) with Capacity of 1.8TB. Also, in my case, if I plug in a nano, an icon of a nano shows up on itunes. it is detuctiing in the other computers... but the drive itself was absolutely OK.

It doesn't work with any of the two ports the HP laptop has. When I put this same drive into my Windows 10 PC it is now recognized. Unfortunately the advice here is of no help.
