It seems there are three main types of freezes: Those caused by AHCI errors (see my post) Those caused by rogue apps (Defender, AppX, etc.) Those caused by incorrect drive path Have tried unplugging all USB devices and turning off wifi but still nothing.
Update 15: u/RedvexRaf tested his system more with the regedit fix, despite not having the freezing issue there are freezes in games and benchmark programs. MS finally updated the stock AHCI controller driver from version 10.0.14393.0 to 10.0.14393.206 in this new cumulative update.

Left the computer for 5 mins until it was responsive again, then rebooted. I maintain my system at least weekly (registry and defrag, etc.)to free up memory using Advanced System Care.
Most of the problems I had, had to do with when the computer went into "Sleep mode" or started running the screen saver.
